Dr. James Hansen (the Godfather of Global Warming) and President of France Emmanuel Macron weigh in on the most effective means of reducing carbon emissions.
Dr. James Hansen – “Look at Germany, there’s a lot of data. It’s progress is very slow, compared with the examples of where they’ve moved to nuclear. ”
French President Emmanuel Macron – “Nuclear is NOT bad for CO2 emissions. Even today with renewables, [nuclear is] the most de-carbonized way to produce electricity.”
Dr. James Hansen – “The people who argue for 100% renewables think that if we can go from 0% to 10% to 20% renewable then we’re on the way and we’ll get to 100%… Well it is actually HARDER NOT EASIER because of the intermittency of the renewables.”
French President Emmanuel Macron – “What happened when Germany suddenly shut down nuclear? …they have massively reopened fossil fuel and coal They have degraded their balance of CO2 emissions. It was not good for the planet.”
